You Can Cook Two Dips at Once With This Genius Slow-Cooker Hack

Alcohol may help people lower their inhibitions, but when it comes to truly getting the party started, it’s all about the appetizers you serve. If you’ve ever seen people crowd around a bowl of spinach artichoke dip, or scald their fingers trying to scoop up piping hot chili cheese using pigs in a blanket, you get it. Awkward small talk becomes so much more manageable when you’re bonding over a bowl of multi-layer, cream cheese-loaded dip.

As the party planner, this can be a challenge. A slow cooker is the ultimate way to keep those apps warm and spreadable all night long, but then you’re limited to just one hot dip. And making a gallon and a half of it.

In a world rife with options — Queso! Lasagna! Chicken Cordon Bleu! — how could you possibly limit yourself to just one dip?! It’d be like hosting a party and only putting Pitbull on the playlist. Sure, you’re going to have a good time, but there’s only so many “dales!” people can take before things start feeling stale.

That’s why we were blown away when we saw Reynolds Wrap‘s slow-cooker hack, which divides the bowl of the appliance into two sections. Meaning you can heat two dips at once. And you become everyone’s hero.

Here’s How the Hack Works:

You just mold a few sheets of heavy duty foil — the kind that’s hard to crumple, that basically stands up on its own — to form a wall in the center of your slow cooker. Shape it so it fits snugly, then place a Slow Cooker Liner to cover both halves, so the dips stay separated. (Although Buffalo Chicken Queso could be a happy accident, to be honest.)

And there’s no need to worry about the safety regarding the plastic liners. In a test conducted by the Good Housekeeping Institute, Reynolds Slow Cooker Liners did not contain either phthalates or BPA, and therefore these substances could not leach into food.

Now the hardest part will be deciding which two dips to use. We’ve got oh, 57 ideas to help with that one.
